Microcement

Seamless floors, walls and stairs, with no joints.

Microcement is the finish we are asked for most and the one we have the most completed work in. It goes on over what is already there — tiles, screed, mosaic — at a few millimetres thick, which avoids demolition and keeps the floor level.

The result is a continuous surface with no joints, easy to clean and with nowhere for dirt to collect. It is not a product to rush: it is several coats, each with its own curing time, and the final sealer decides how hard-wearing it will be.

We make samples on site before applying anything. The colour in the catalogue and the colour in your light are not the same thing.

FAQ

Can microcement go over tiles?

In most cases yes, and it is one of the big advantages: it avoids demolition and does not raise the floor. The tiles have to be well bonded with no hollow pieces — we check that at the site visit.

Does microcement crack?

Microcement follows its substrate. If the substrate cracks, it cracks. That is why we lay reinforcing mesh and deal with movement joints before we start.

Can it get wet?

It can, once sealed. We use it in bathrooms and shower areas regularly. For outdoor floors we use a different system with better UV resistance.

How do you clean it?

Water and a neutral detergent. No abrasives and no acids. The polyurethane sealer is renewed after a few years in heavy-use areas.
